JOB SUMMARY: This candidate must be able to diligently & responsibly organize, plan and effectively support the execution of duties set below in the primary responsibilities. The Senior Mechanic must have a good working knowledge of all factory and building maintenance equipment and processes. The Senior Mechanic must have a high regard to employee and equipment Safety as well as a good understanding of GMP's. PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES: 1. Maintain and implement the Center's (PM) Work Order program. This individual is the main driver, mechanic and decision maker in performing & completing the Preventitive Maintenance Program. This individual will utilize the current technical services group and the building maintenance group as well as other internal resources for PM repairs. 2. Administer the training and orientation of all outside contractors. Act as a liaison with site security for contractor building access cards. 3. Supervise contractors as assigned. 4. Coordinate all building service systems and repairs with Plant Refrigeration, Boiler and Division Building Services (the responsible owners). Some systems include HVAC, steam, High Pressure Water, domestic hot & cold water, compressed air, ammonia, natural gas, and lighting. 5. Maintain and keep neat all electrical and mechanical rooms, to minimize congestion and promotes a safe work environment. 6. Work closely with the R&D engineers, technicians, service contractors on new installations as well as testing and repair of new and existing equipment as needed. 7. Be an active member of the pilot plant audit team, by participating in the audits, addressing any work orders that are generated from the audit by making the necessary repairs when needed. 8. Assist as a resource to the R&D engineers with the design, purchase and installation of new, used and leased machinery for the Pilot Plant. 9. Assist as needed with facility improvement projects including the on-going maintenance of the Pilot Plant, office areas, sensory room by performing basic maintenance repairs such as roof inspections, minor painting, etc. 10. Must ensure safe facility and hygiene rules are being adhered to and enforced throughout the pilot plant, shop area and construction sites. This includes Lock out /Tag out, Hot work permits, confined space, Zurich forms, tie-offs, arc flash, ammonia safety, etc.. 11. Adhere to all facility policies concerning safety, security, and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) 12. Troubleshoot mechanical problems and perform necessary repairs in Pilot Plant and R&D environment 13. Provide cost-effective, efficient technical service for the engineering group (machining, welding, electronics, fabricating, mechanical tasks) 14. Support Nestlé Hygenic Engineering objectives 15. Support NQMS initiatives 16. Support Knowledge Management process in sharing lessons learned with your colleagues 17. Perform other duties as assigned and required. 18. Must be willing to travel 19.
