ITW Trans Tech is the industry leader in providing three-dimensional product decorating technologies.  As part of the Illinois Tool Works family of companies, we offer an exciting opportunity for a skilled individual with a background in quality, to fill the position of Business Compliance Specialist.

 

 

Requirements     

 

Summary: Independent Contributor responsible for leading and maintaining Trans Tech’s ISO9001/2008 certified Quality Management System and insuring Trans Tech’s compliance with all local, state, federal requirements.   This includes but is not limited to; OSHA, EHS, and EPA.  

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Quality

  • Take responsibility for the Trans Tech ISO and quality management system, assuring our systems drive our product quality to meet or exceed all customer expectations and that Trans Tech maintains its ISO certification.
  • Develop and maintain continuous improvement quality policies/procedures assuring and overseeing timely implementation.  
  • Provide regular training for all employees on our quality system.
  • Drive continuous improvement through ISO Management Review meetings.
  • Lead internal quality audits. Ensure audits are scheduled and completed on time.
  • E valuate field/customer complaints determining cause and instituting permanent corrective action(s).
  • Ensure that all ISO corrective and preventive actions are resolved and closed out.
  • Coordinate all facility measurement equipment calibration and maintenance   testing.
  • Manage the supplier review process, coordinating the necessary supplier actions through procurement personnel.  
Compliance
  • Coordinate inspections and testing related to Environmental Health and Safety (EH&S).
  • Ensure compliance with all Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) requirements, including timely submission of all required reports.
  • Provide guidance to company employees on all export compliance issues, including interpretation and application of the International Traffic and Arms Regulations (ITAR), Export Administration Regulations (EAR), and other import/export laws.
  • Manage the export licensing process under EAR and ITAR jurisdiction, re-export licenses and classification reviews.
  • Control manual; develop and conduct internal export compliance training.
  • Serve as the primary interface between the company and the government on all export issues; interact with external consultants and trade brokers as required.
  • Prepare certificates and special letters (ie. Prop 65, Phalates and EN71) for various regulatory compliance.
  • Coordinate MSDS program and validate Business Unit compliance.
  • Manage Document Retention Program and validate Trans Tech compliance.
  • Complete and submit customer compliance surveys as required.
Safety
  • Manage the development of Trans Tech’s Safety and Compliance Department.
  • Manage, develop, and maintain Trans Tech’s Safety Awareness Programs.
  • Insure that all OSHA and company safety requirements are met or develop a plan to achieve compliance. This includes but is not limited to the managing of LOTO, PPE, Emergency procedures, and training.
  • Work with HR to review our workman compensation claims and develop ways to improve our condition (e.g., reduce number of cases and establish measures to prevent future occurrences).
  • Responsible for communicating safety issues to all relevant parties in the appropriate format (i.e., memos, voice mail, e-mail, etc.)
  • Assist with the development of department budgets related to safety and compliance.

Knowledge/Experience Requirements:  One to two years experience in safety, ISO, or EPA Required.

Other Requirements:  Personal computer literacy/experience, including proficient skills in Microsoft Excel, Outlook, Word and computerized MRP systems.  Excellent verbal and written communication skills.   Must be able to travel overnight.
