· Inspects Customers' mail for the following critical errors: o Class of mail o Correct and legible date on metered mail o Correct postage, precanceled stamp, or permit imprint o Correct size/ weight for automation compatibility (sample and weigh larger pieces) o Correct and legible meter impression (postage, meter number, and endorsements) o Presort markings o Automation compatibility o Mail stuck together or unsealed. · Compares zipcodes on the processed mail to ensure they match the tray tags, barcode lines and the D&R tags. · Reviews the mail and documents the results of the review in the QA logs. · Supports the operators and sweepers by watching for larger amounts of rejects, which could indicate that the machine may not be set up properly. · Assures that applicable MPTQM standards are met. · With direction from the Operations Manager or Assistant Operations Manager organizes the mail flow on the production floor by assigning workers, assessing volumes and type of mail based on current staffing levels. · Sets up windows on the various machines using ECA & Winsort software. Prepares reports as directed which converts the Winsort and Msort programs to combine the information for the proper processing of documentation. · Responsible for overseeing the production workers on designated shift. Supervisory responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, training, appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and solving problems. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with company policies and applicable laws. · Oversees quality function throughout the production area. · Assists Operations Manager in completing required USPS and internal reports, job costing reports and application of all USPS postal regulations. Assures clear and concise communication of pertinent information between shifts · Follows-up to assure processing proceeds at the pace needed to meet postal dead lines. · Reviews time clock hours of production workers to assure accuracy. Interprets company policies to production staff as needed and upholds safety regulations and practices. Offers suggestions regarding increasing efficiency of use of equipment, working conditions, motivation of employees. This position will report directly to the VP/GM. Completion of high school or equivilant experience in a production environment.
· Completion of high school or equivilant experience in a production environment. · Minimum of 6 months of supervisory experience in the pre-sort, mailing, mailroom, or associated industry where familiarity of USPS requirements and/or regulations are applied. · Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals and USPS postal regulations. Ability to prepare reports and effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, customers and employees. · Ability to calculate and prepare various reports regarding volumes, rejects and other pertinent data. · Knowledge of spreadsheet applications in Microsoft Office environment. Knowledgeable of PC applications and statistical reporting. Solid understanding of use of Windows environment to set up production runs. Ability to solve basic problems that arise in the production environment. · Requires the ability to stand, walk, stoop and bend up to 80% of the time. Required to lift up to 50 lbs. occasionally. · Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment with frequent interruptions and work effectively under the pressure of deadlines. · Ability to communicate clearly. Ability to be flexible in your schedule such as taking off hour or weekend calls in order to address problems that may arise
