The Systems Architect is a role in STG pre-sales technical sales support. This position will work with clients and sales teams to architect complex multi-brand solutions that could involve multiple server and storage brands as well as network/SAN components. Applicants should have a strong knowledge of the Power and or Storage brands and additional knowledge of the x86 server family. Familiarity with mainframe environments will also be helpful but is not critical. Candidate must be willing to learn other brands as well as the platform selection methodology, have good software and project management skills, and have prior experience in customer facing leadership roles. This is a consultant like position that will require an aggressive desire to learn the customer's business requirements, develop solutions based on the IBM STG portfolio and deliver technical and financial proposals. Knowledge of the STG cross-brand initiatives, like Cloud Computing, Virtualization, IT Optimization, Dynamic Infrastructure, server consolidation and other Infrastructure Solutions is a plus. Knowledge and practice of Team Solution Design would also be helpful, but not critical, in this role. This position will support larger enterprise clients primarily in Wiaconsin. The candidate should be located in Milwaukee, Madison or Green Bay - possibly other cities close to these locations - and be willing to travel on the average 25% of the time, with more on occasion as needed. Competitive knowledge of the major server providers (HP, SUN, Dell, x86 space) and storage providers (EMC, NetApp, etc) will be helpful in this role. In summary this role concentrates on the design of infrastructures including servers, storage, middleware, non-application software, networks, and the physical facilities that support the applications and business processes required by the client. Included in the focus areas is the critical evaluation and selection of the software and hardware components of the infrastructure. System Architects are responsible for performance, availability and scalability of the infrastructure and develop the vision and strategy of a solution design and then will typically pass off the implementation of this design to the local FTSS (Field Technical Sales Specialists) within the various brands. The System Architect will then ensure that the delivery of the design is on target and the customer expectations are being met until completion. Required - High School Diploma/GED
